About Us

Hunter Functional Health is a multidisciplinary allied health practice based in Newcastle, NSW, offering Paediatric Occupational Therapy, Sports Chiropractic services and a range of soft tissue therapies (including the latest shockwave therapy).

Aaron Hennessy

Sports Chiropractor & Occupational Therapist (Owner)

Aaron is the only titled Sports & Exercise Chiropractor in the Hunter region and one of Australia’s few dual-qualified Chiropractors and Occupational Therapists. Extensive experience working CrossFit® Pacific Regionals and Ironman® clinical teams, university tutor in Anatomy and Sports Medicine, Strength and Conditioning, Pilates and rehabilitation exercise programming.

Aaron is also a highly skilled paediatric Occupational Therapist. His dual expertise allows him to provide unique insights into both athletic performance and paediatric development, offering valuable mentorship to those entering either field.

Abraham Tedjakusuma

Senior Occupational Therapist

Abraham is a seasoned Occupational Therapist specialising in paediatric care, with expertise in sensory integration, neurodevelopment, and emotional regulation. He has devoted his career to supporting children with developmental challenges, including motor coordination, sensory processing, and social-emotional difficulties. Abraham creates individualised therapy plans to help children reach their potential at home, school, and in the community.

He mentors graduates in paediatric occupational therapy, sensory integration, and neuro-developmental support, helping them build the skills to make meaningful impacts with children and families.
